All Natural Homemade Diaper Cream (Just 2 Ingredients)

Posted on June 29, 2015 | Labels: Beauty

When my first baby was born, I was shocked by how many chemicals were in standard diaper creams. The ingredient lists read like a chemistry textbook. I wanted something simple, natural, and effective for my little one's sensitive skin.

This diaper cream couldn't be easier. Two ingredients. That's it. And it works better than most of the stuff you'll find at the pharmacy.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup organic coconut oil
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil (food-grade, baby-safe)

Instructions

  1. Scoop the coconut oil into a clean glass jar.
  2. Add the lavender essential oil.
  3. Stir with a clean spoon until the oil is evenly distributed.
  4. That's it. Apply a thin layer at each diaper change as needed.

Tips

Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial and antifungal, which makes it perfect for preventing diaper rash. Lavender adds soothing properties and a calming scent. Make sure the coconut oil is organic and unrefined for the best quality. If your home is warm and the coconut oil liquefies, just give it a stir before using. This cream lasts for months at room temperature. Always do a patch test before using any essential oil on a baby, and consult your pediatrician if you have concerns.
