If you love adding essential oils to your water and tea, then you’ll no doubt love this Lavender Hot Chocolate recipe, too!
When the weather is chilly, one thing I love to do is make homemade hot chocolate. None of that instant-powdered stuff. I’m talking unsweetened cocoa powder, pure vanilla extract, a little bit of honey, and some lavender essential oil (this is my favorite brand to use, especially in food recipes). As if the hot chocolate wasn’t comforting enough, you can get a double dose by adding lavender to the mix.
Lavender Hot Chocolate
4 cups milk (your choice of regular, unsweetened almond, or soy)
8 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 teaspoons honey, or more to taste
4 drops Lavender essential oil
Add the milk to a medium saucepan and heat on medium-high. Whisk cocoa, vanilla, and honey until smooth. Remove from heat and add 4 drops of lavender essential oil and stir.
If you make this Lavender Hot Chocolate, be sure to leave a comment and tell me what you think of it! ♥
A little history of lavender essential oil …
If there is an essential oil that is a must have, it is Lavender. This incredible, versatile essential oil smells amazing and is jam packed with therapeutic properties. Adults and kids alike can benefit from Lavender and its wonderful effects. Diffuse 30–60 minutes before bedtime to promote calm and relaxation, making sleep a dream. Use it diluted with your favorite Carrier Oil at a 2-5% dilution to soothe skin that is reddened or irritated, from bites that happen from pesky outdoor insects, minor bumps and scrapes, or that has been overexposed to the sun. For children, use it to calm emotions and help little ones relax before bedtime. Add it to unscented lotion for an enjoyable moisturizer that not only smells amazing, but is ideal to nourish and soften the skin.
